I have a question, I hope you don't mind answering haha. :)
I've noticed that a lot of your art--and a lot of others' art (janaschi in particular)--incorporate strong value contrasts. All of "The Others" have light/luminescent skin in contrast to the background/situation. Do you consciously think of this when/before you paint? Is that an objective for the complete piece?
Yihyoung, it's nice to have that contrast between dark and light, and I think it creates interest very easily. It depends on which painting I'm doing, but yes, that contrast between figure and background is definitely a goal. I think about how can I make her/him/it stand out from the background? Whether it's value contrast or color contrast, I utilize both. You can also apply it to situations when you want things to recede into the background.

I think itwas a good decision to choose a motive that's more zoomed in.

I think the first one if my favorite because of her emotive face. They are all very beautiful though. I can't wait to see more finished art from you.
